Giving united 2-3 more weeks. Currently looking for a new full time job lol.
If they don't train me to do guest service and/or give me a raise imma bounce :p

They've given me 2 raises in 2 years. And I do 7 different things for the company starting as just a sacker. They sure don't have a problem calling me to work any shift for any department though.

And they won't give me full time at the present because of Obamacare!

To avoid this, try to get hired by a small company that contracts to the large oil companies.

I was talked out of an oil field job. My parents made a good point. You're just a number and easily replaceable.

I honestly don't know what to do

As a truck driver, you can't really advance. So there is no misconception there. And when you get sick of it you can just drop it for something better. Beware not to get sidetracked by money alone. Do what you enjoy.

If you pass your test and become a driller, I hear there is stupid money(upwards of 80,000 a month). But to get it, you have to start somewhere lower on the rig, make the people respect you, then they will listen to you when you become the driller.

I can say from experience that although 2 years seems a lot to you, to management that is small potatoes. I can also say that they may be apprehensive to put you in management because you are young. For the next twenty years there's always going to be someone else who is older and more experienced than you who will probably get that position.

It's important to look at your future plans, but sometimes it's best to do what's better for right now. 15 bucks an hour for an unskilled worker is incredible money, and I would slap you if you didn't at least apply.

You might also think of getting educated or learning a trade, you could get a job in retail anywhere given your experience.

I guess in short it is up to you, but when the time comes to ditch the dead-end job, ditch it.

I have planned on moving up into management, but is it worth the hassle/wait? I've been passed over for positions at least 2 or 3 times before they moved me there.

My uncle works for the oil fields a town over from me as a truck driver and he said they are hiring for about everything. He was telling me I could get a job as a part of the Pulling Unit ( about 15/hr for a Mon-Fri job ).

I really want to go try for that job, but I want to become a manager at United and make Salary which is that or even more.

Money as soon as I graduate or money in a few years maybe if I'm not passed over for it.

Thoughts, critiques, experiences?
