I might even get honor grad if I can keep up with my physical stuff since I'm the only one in my class with any college experience..

But.. anyway. So far it's not bad, I finally started classes and it's boring as hell since some people don't know what a ratchet is. I do also have my own computer now and crappy barracks internet to power it on! :D!!! Did you know you can ping in the 1900 area? I do now.

I apparently had a broken/fractured rib when I did my APFT for basic. I remember asking my friends when I was in horrible pain at our 3 day long field training campout if you could cough hard enough to break a rib. They said it was probably nothing...

Guess what! You can!

Honestly, if people were considering the military, I'd hope they work out more than I did before I went. Failing too many events kind of puts a target on your head. My AIT is a lot more relaxed by comparison. We get our phones most of the day except formations.

I'm not a weaklking, but I wasn't exactly in the top 50% of pt scores either. I did score like 98 on my asvab though so... there.

Sounds very impressive about the asvab. A 99 is the max. I got a 71, but guessed a lot on the electronics part since i know just about nothing about them.

That part doesn't have anything to do with your 71. The main score is calculated using Word Knowledge (WK), Paragraph Comprehension (PC), Arithmetic Reasoning (AR), and Mathematics Knowledge (MK). The formula for it is: AFQT = 2(WK+PC). Just as an example, my line scores are all around 120 across the board, yet I only got an 89. Part of it is from not caring half way through the test after getting a 99 on the practice tests they gave me, and part of it is from the Word Knowledge on ASVAB 10 completely screwing me over. I had never seen some of those words in my life and when I did, it was the possible answers I'd never seen before :(

At the moment I'm workin on getting a real computer for myself. At that point I'll be able to restart updating my short story, play a game now and then, and... do work with it of course.
Naturally, since I got here for a Thursday... nothing I order will make it til sometime next week.

I still have a ways to go to get my PT score up, but I've got time, hopefully. The company I'm with is a pretty relaxed one. I don't know if that's a good/bad thing, but we'll see how that works out.

There's no way I could ever do any of that stuff you're doing. Best of luck with your training; let us know how it continues to go for you! :)

I just finished, and I'm actually waiting at the airport's USO borrowing their computer while I wait 5 hours for my flight from Ft.Jackson to chicago to Ft.Lee. Two flights totalling 4 hours of airtime to get to a base that's a 5-6 hour drive from where I am... military travel is awesome!

I will make it to my AIT at midnight tonight, where hopefully I'll be able to buy a laptop/phone damn soon. We'll see I suppose. BCT took me a little longer cause I failed my PT test.. IMO it was reprisal because my platoon stole 3 of 4 other company's flags over our long field training at the very end... So I had to wait another week to take another PT test, passed, I'm happy.

So I'm goin to Ft.Lee as a 91S "Stryker maintainer" we'll see how fun that is. I've got a little time to get my pushups to AIT standard, but my other scores are good :D

It's been a long 10 weeks that's for sure. Soda and candy sure taste a lot better when you've been through all that. My next update probably won't be til I get more computer access though. Glad to be done with all this though.
