Maybe include a picture of a molex power cable. And connector piece.
That would help him know what to look for in his own machine.

Its a power cable you can plug into hard disk drive, floppy disk drive, CD/DVD drive, video card, plus other stuff that needs power to it.
I don't think you will need it on the nVidia GeForce 8400 GS as its has a maximum power draw of 71 watts, The PCI (E) slot gives out a maximum of 75W at 3.3V or 12V, most of the new cards will need it tho.

As for molex that is just the name of the power cable that comes from the psu and plugs into some gfx cards, (sometimes people forget to connect them or they don't have enough power to run them)

From what he has told me:
1. He has an on-board ATi something-or-other - he is putting a dedicated card in.
2. I believe he did, but I could be wrong. I told him to multiple times.
3. I don't think he has a Molex on his card.
4. I think he has only one PCI-E x16 slot.
5. The "new" card is nVidia.
His card is old, and from his other computer. He cannot return it, and I believe it is the GeForce 7 series, so it's pretty old (doesn't have HDMI).
First off, not that old. Only about 2 years old. "New" card is nVidia GeForce 8400 GS, still worked in old pc. Current graphics card is ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Series. Only one slot on computer, yes. No idea what Molex is, but I don't believe it's on card. Will check if am told how. Current cord worked with the card when it was in old pc, haven't changed monitors.
As for uninstalling ATI drivers, you actually told me not to, as did Jeff.

Do you have a AGP or PCI graphics card?
Well, there's AGP, PCI, and PCI-E (technically GFX cards are usually PCI-E x16).
I know his is not AGP, at least from the last time I talked with him. Unless he told me the wrong information.
