I would like to issue a public apology to one "Tanks and Guns": Turns out the chocolate cherry tastes pretty good if you use it in Italian sodas and add extra cream. Kinda tastes like chocolate milk.
Apology accepted. I wonder how that would taste with some Bailey's or Kahlua added to it? If you're old enough, of course.

1) Just because it tastes good and smells good as a syrup doesn't mean it's good carbonated
2) Lime makes everything taste better

5) Buy extra tupperware

7) Real cherries impart a distinct powdered sugar flavor, regardless of a lack of powdered sugar in the batch. Use good ones in season, then add liquor and/or half and half

Another thing you might want to try, my best friend always gets chocolate syrup in his Dr. Pepper. Just thought I would let you know. Also, my English teacher in High School always talked about adding a tablespoon of chocolate syrup to his Coke.
That's... a bit out there for me... Also, I don't plan on making cola or decyphering the Dr Pepper recipe, but I may experiment with chocolate in other sodas like root beer.
Anyway I may as well post the recipe for my last batch of ginger ale. This is a syrup, so you can mix it with any club soda (or, God forbid, tonic water) that you want. It's not as spicey as my first batch, but it also doesn't smell like a urinal. I've gotten a few liters out of it so far, and there's still half the container left of syrup. At around 5 bucks for the investment (most of which is the squeeze ginger) it's pretty cost effective.

4 oz Squeeze Ginger
4 cups water
4 cups sugar
4 Tablespoons clover honey
4 limes (zest and juice)
Dash of sea salt
Dash of cayenne (when no one is looking)
Boil all of the ingredients (except the limes) in a sauce pan on high. The goal is to reduce it all into a syrup; it'll finish at around 1.5 to 2 cups of golden liquid. Add the limes, half at a time, throughout the the boil. You should be adding the last of the juice to the syrup when you're removing it from the heat. Pour it through a strainer to get the sludge out of it. I suspect that crap can be used to make candy, but this will require more research (and possibly another thread).
About four spoonfuls is enough for a small glass of soda. Pour it in the glass first, without ice, and then add the soda. You can add ice afterward.
