I joined a little over 8 years ago, here's some of the main events during that time..
- First few memories: Xeal's sig of Santa riding a camel wearing a partyhat & lols occuring over the mass-moddings of 2004.
- Was extremely active on both the forums and Chat in late 2004, then 2005, 2006 and early 2007. Was leaked to me that I had overwhelming support to become a Legend but was promoted to Chat Mod instead, meaning I never got the Legend rank. Best years of Runevillage for me.
- Retired from Chat Mod, maybe, twice.
- Being a Chat Mod in Old Chat was probably the most fun I've ever had on Runevillage. The Chat Mod Forum was always a great place to chill. Gros bobby anyone?
- Became a Forum Mod way later than expected (by this I mean essentially after my years of epic activity).
- Retired from Forum Mod, and probably Chat Mod another time.
- Banned in 2007? 2008? for my part in stealing a Green H'ween Mask from Jet1233.
- Became really inactive on RV pretty much from 2008 until now.
- Became Clan Chat Mod in 2010 some time and later retired.
- Quit Runescape for the first time in 2007 and returned again in July 2009. Became a Player Mod in November 2009. However, I retired for the last time in November 2010 and lost all my wealth in 2011 during a random log in.
- Who can forget the drama? Been a part of so much of it and loved every minute of it. From Petrenks co-running a hacking website to Frogger & Frizoid poking their heads into private forums & the consistent general dislike for Euph. Probably the most memorable being Frank vs the administrators and Frank vs anyone Frank felt like vsing on any particular day, just because we were great friends back then.
The politics of Runevillage in its prime were absolutely hilarious, looking back on them now. So much drama in certain circles over who became moderator of what, who missed out on becoming a moderator, how villagers were punished, how villagers were forgiven, how particular groups of moderators acted towards other groups of moderators. Hah!
It's been an interesting ride to say the least.

At 13 years old, I would never have guessed that this one date would impact my life as much as it has. I didn't think anything of it at the time... I was simply curious about what "The Pub" was on a site I'd been using for months beforehand. Truth be told, I didn't even know what a forum was before registering on RuneVillage. I was a pretty clueless kid... I guess some things will never change, in that respect.
My first memories of RuneVillage are a bit foggy... I think I stumbled upon one of the early parties back in RSC, which is where I'd heard the name of RuneVillage for the first time; Walking past Party Hall, wandering around while still fairly new to RuneScape members. I'd used the guides on the main site for at least a few months before even clicking on "The Pub." I think I clicked on it once within that period and determined it to be some sort of chat/discussion area, and immediately backspaced. My parents were overly paranoid of the internet, you see, and had put all sorts of scary ideas in a young child's head - I was reluctant to look too far into the forums. But after those first few months, curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to register. "I wouldn't have anything to worry about as long as I didn't give out any personal information, right?" - That's what I told myself that day.
My start in the forums was a low-key one. I doubt anyone remembers me from my days as "S.S.4Goten" here at RV. I wasn't really active for the first couple of weeks, honestly. My real activity didn't start until I'd stumbled upon a suggestion topic in "Things You'd Like to See in RuneScape." It was the Dragon Slayer Guild, being worked on by a mostly forgotten member named Coren. This is what birthed my activity at RV, as well as my interests in pixeling and fake making. I was so excited to be contributing to what I considered an amazing idea, and to be praised for my artistic skills. (Though I was quite the novice back then.) I remember excitedly coming home from school every day knowing that I'd get to work on a new fake for his idea.
The Dragon Slayer Guild eventually faded out of the RV interest along with the RS Suggestions forum and, along with it, Coren. It's a shame too - He was the first person that I considered a friend at RV. It was around this time where the sprite craze was in its golden age at RV, and I got into editing them and improving my pixeling skills. Pixel sigs were huge around this time as well. I remember creating my first couple pixel sigs; One was in a cave with a warrior fighting a red dragon, while the other was just some guy killing things in the abyss. These were requests in a sig stall I started, but I don't think it ever took off due to my nooby pixeling skills. This was some of the most fun I ever had with pixeling honestly, because I hardly had a clue what I was doing. It was also during this sig stall that I created Apocalypse20's avatar, which I find it awesome that he still uses it. (Although I wish he'd let me update it for him.)
It was around this same time that I started expanding my hobby of faking into the General Pictures forum - My favorite forum of my young days at RV. I'd already gained a small name for myself in the eyes of the fakemakers of RV for my work on the Dragon Slayer Guild (this was back when making RS fakes was popular, which made it all the more fun.) My favorite fakes will always be the Evil Tree ones, if any of you remember them. (I really wish I had them saved somewhere.. ;_;) This was when boa1891 and I had started to develop a friendship, as we both developed faking galleries in General Pictures. Soon Andrey joined in the fun, although I hadn't really known who he was until we ran into each other in RS and hit it off. (We ran into each other in the Haunted Mine, no less. Crazy place to run into a RVer.) We rose to fame as the "Fake Four;" the fourth member being Rabadzija of whom boa had adopted as an apprentice to faking. The Fake Four adopted the Tan Cavalier as their symbol for whatever reason, which was the start of my avatar's legacy. (This was also back when I used to sign each of my posts with "-Goten
". Good times...) This was definitely my "golden age" at RuneVillage, enjoying both my time on RS with the company of RVers, and my time at RV through the creation of my fakes. My love of faking, of course, spawned the Upcoming Fakers of '06/'07 competitions - Both being huge successes and a whole lot of fun. Sadly the '06 competition topic is no longer around.. And just as sad is that we never continued the tradition past the '07 competition due to the trade limit implications of December '08.It was between the points of the '06 and '07 competitions that the Fake Four somewhat drifted apart. Rab, Andrey, and even Boa lost interest in RS, with only Boa left to eventually return a long while later. All three frequented RV less and less, while I made it more of an aim to contribute as well as I could. I did this by being as helpful around the forums as possible, which I assume was the reasoning behind my appointment as a forum moderator. That was a pretty huge moment in my RV career. Getting that PM from Mustang was a pretty big shocker. And about that promotion, I have to say I was in good company; Who knew that my group would be the start of the big name Donut Juice's rise to power? Not to mention how the rest of the users promoted with me later rose to board mod (me included) at the same time less than a year later. We were a quality batch of mods, we were. Plus the fact that Tweedy, a5chow, AND Jaron were promoted to board mod during our appointments - And we all know how big they became. I have to say that my only disappointment with becoming a forum mod was that all the noobies were assigned two forums to mod - One random and the market stalls. I of course wanted General Pictures, but ended up with RuneScape. (That was my second preference though, so I didn't really have any complaints.) But I digress.
During this time in between my initial modship and eventual promotion, I befriended most of my fellow team members and a lot of regular users. I started playing Flyff which was what initially introduced me to Quan, who I'd never even really heard of before. We soon enticed Jaron to join in (Who I first met through the Faker's Competition of '07), and the three of us soon became close friends. We even managed to spark a once-dead interest in FlyFF throughout the village again (This topic had like 60 pages before the forum reset ;_;), which I hope to further encourage. I came to know the rest of the staff and other ranked users better through activity in the Legend's and other hidden forums, though I fear this has left my public appearance lacking a bit. (I did, however, become extremely active whenever a Paint Warz topic sprang up.
May the showdown of Lt. Boom and Kakazi never be forgotten!) Whatever the case, I've come to know many of you very well (both on RV and through RS), and wouldn't give that up for the world.[This is about the point where I realized how long this post has become and decided to wrap it up
]I eventually became a board mod, and I'm glad that I could help contribute to the village as much as I have. In more recent times I've tried to contribute through means of guide editing, guide writing, joining the RV 2.0 team, and contributing random graphics to the site. In all honesty, I've developed a lot of my literary and artistic skills through my time and contributions to RuneVillage. And while many of you are aware that real life issues have hindered my activity and abilities to contribute, I'll continue to try to do my part for both the betterment of RuneVillage and myself.
I'm also aware that this recent forum setback has taken a toll on us all, but simply missing a year of posts doesn't mean that they were never there. The Soul of the Village is still here, and I'll continue to stick around so long as it remains.
I've mentioned a few of you in my post already, and I'd like to mention so many more, but I won't do one of those cliche' thank-you lists that people tend to include in their anniversary topics. I'd have to cover just about anyone who has ever made a post, and I'm sure I'd forget at least a few people. I've loved every moment of my time at RuneVillage, and each and every user that has been a part of it.
All in all, It's been a great five years.

Today is actually my 7 year at RV, but I don't have a lot more to add to this quote. RV2 still hasn't happened, although we at least got RV 1.3 and The Pub 2.0 done. Went homeless, got stressed, resigned. Themed months have pretty much died, but at least we had Megaman month before they did.

Joined RS in early '06 after hanging out with some friends. I don't know what they personally did to find RV...but a year or so later they started talking about RV. And I came here and started using your guys' guides and whatnot, but never really for the Pub. Then on December 31, 2007 I became an official member of the Pub. I'm cool like that joining the day before 2008 (it was like 2 hours before midnight when I signed up
). Then I learned what a forum was.
I was really annoying when I joined (whatever I thought I just pretty much posted) and I hit the return key twice after like every sentence I made. And I never capitalized anything, no punctuation, etc. But now 4 years later I am type like a pro.
I could go on and make some ridiculous story or speech or something on how this place changed my life. But I won't do that because I'm on an itouch (which I post alot from, tbh) and it's painfully hard editing all the wrong buttons and I think the speech will fall along with everyone else's. So a quick "<3" will suffice.

D'awwwww. And yeah, kikori always did rage pretty hard at you. He was always mad at me for letting you rp but I said give the poor kid a chance....bahaha. To say you've matured a lot is an understatement.
Anyway, my story. I started playing rs in 2002 or 2003...but I think it was '02. My friend lilsmurf2008 who I went to school with irl introduced me to the site, he's been a member since 2003 I think? And them my other friend irl progamer6 joined as well, and I decided I would as well. I'd been lurking on the guides on this site pretty much since its inception, but as you can see, didn't join until summer of '04.
At any rate, I only had sporadic internet access (only when at a friends, and rarely we'd get it at home then it would be shut off due to nonpayment.) until I started college in 2008. But I loved runescape and RV and would post profusely in spurts when I had the chance, baha.
At any rate, when I started becoming really active on RV my favorite places to hang out were the rp and lit society, the media mansion, general chat, and debate forum. I always valued the community here more for the non-rs related stuff than rs related stuff. But I still like to check the rs forums from time to time, my favorites being the field of death and what would you like to see in rs. I've been a totally unreliable member of the guides team, but I've done more than some, having written five or so guides, which it seems half of each was lost forever in the rollback. This largely took the wind right out of my sails. I also joined the villager right as it was breathing its last breath, but hope to help revive it in the future. I also really enjoy working with the RVET as well. I do my best to contribute where we can.
So anyway, the MOST fun I've had on this site is playing mafia, hands down. I was there for public game one, and am here for public game whatever. I also enjoyed playing in Znath's rp awhile back, but dammit if I don't remember what it was about. I also played a few latter-day battlefields, those were fun for a minute.
Like everyone else, I've met people here who, it is safe to say, have changed my life. My first serious 'friend' here was ex rexnub, but it seems he is hardly around anymore. I also, at one point, was voicechatting with abc231 on a weekly basis. It seems I was one of the very few people he actually got along with here. But, by and far, (and I hate to do this, play favorites, but I can't even help it) my best friend here is Kikori Kid. He's taught me several things about myself, one of the most important being it's OKAY to disagree and still be friends, though we agree on most things. There are things that man knows about me that none of my rl friends do. He's always been there for me, and I want to thank him for that. Moreover, he has NEVER judged me, which is more than I can say about most people.

Oh man, I have a really funny story about that that I'm not going to tell because if I did I'd get banned.
Anywho, onto my story. I started playing RS in January 2003, and I joined RV in December 2003. I was introduced to RV I believe around October 2003 by cgb8000, who was a friend of mine irl. I remember going to a big drop party soon after I joined, I believe in February 2004 and I think it was hosted by Euph. I used to be incredibly close with a lot of people on RV, especially Piggah and EaglesFan. StalkerJoe was really cool for a while until he became a chat moderator and then he became a total
. I used to talk to wit a bit, and I actually "met" Piggah through him. I haven't really felt very connected to the community in YEARS, but for whatever reason I kept coming back (somewhat). Tech Elite was the

My buddy showed me this place in the computer lab or library at school, and I decided to join up and see what all the fuss was about. I'm not sure who first introduced me to the site, I think it was probably bjb. I remember how much weaker he used to be than me when we first started playing. Now he out-levels me many times over. I used RV's guides since about the time that it came out but I didn't sign up for the forums until I joined Snake and Pyro's clans. (I was a spy for both sides or something. They apparently were having a clan war or something and supposedly neither of them new I was a spy. In all likelihood, they were probably both yanking my chain. I was a stupid kid back then.)
I honestly can't remember all that much from back then. RV's been a part of my life for many years now. I remember receiving that exciting pm from Meepster informing me that the chat mods had unanimously voted me in to become a mod. I remember the elder mods/admins slowly leaving Runevillage. I remember looking up to Meepster the most. I was just getting into programming at this time and the fact that he created something even as simple as our chat room amazed me and I think he's probably the one that most inspired me to program. I remember NintendoDude letting me wear his party hat. (This was before lending items came out so it was a pretty big deal of trust.) I've made some amazing friends here and even after I left RuneVillage, I still kept up with RuneVillage members, past as well as current, on Windows Live.
I remember joining the Villager with Frogger and becoming Village Staff. (Initially I didn't care too much for Frogger because he took the head position on the Villager, a role I had been working hard to get to, but we eventually became close friends as well as ended up providing some site-hosting services including hosting GameStar's first(?) forum.)
I'm sure I could go on even more with stories about my time here so I guess I'll give some shoutouts here.
Frogger, Knux, Dimak, Pyro, Snake, Bjb, I'm really glad I had the pleasure to meet you all and consider you some of my best friends.
Edit: Oh and before I met Pikachu12349 (and the five hundred other namechanges he went through) I used to talk in chatspeak. Now I write properly. Thanks, bro.

Ended up finding RV on accident while I was searching around on Tip (first fansite I ever visited, which I now returned to) because a friend didn't feel like answering the questions I was asking. Of course, it was under a different account name (Bustergod) in 2004 and ended up losing the password. I ended up waiting until my 13th birthday a year later (I lied, so what?) and didn't really get involved until I sold white flowers to Snake, who removed the three warnings I had on me for too long due to guy I cannot remember. Anyways, life continued to be fun and giggles in 2006, where most of my activity peaked by meeting various villagers, joining and leaving the RVA 10+ times, changed my name twice that amount, and doing various shenanigans. 2007 would be my "dark year" despite my legend promotion, but my golden year followed (where I didn't post much on RV in 2008 and practically didn't put one reply or topic post the year following).
Did my return in 2010, in which the village didn't have the same feel. Now, in 2011, I've graduated high school (lit society made me pro at English class), turned into a fully evolved sarcastic smartass, and now I've switched fansite allegiance. For 5 1/2 years, this small village was pretty much full of adventure.
Oh, and for my shout-outs:

Joined in aug 03, but never spoke/posted till jan 04. then pretty much would end up doing new quests with Euph, A5chow, Svstoned. Would go to drop partys and ended up running auctions to raise money for them and donating.
Runevillage and its members are what made me play runescape, there are loads of people i have played RS with Applequest, Jinxy, devil fly, Shadow7, old Friziod
