If anything i think that we should let out a few words on the filter nothing to offensive just to see how it plays out on the forum before beging to remove it completly.

I'm not sure you a) fully understand which censor we're talking about, and b) know the age of the people that frequent RV Lounge.

@Simons: I hate Jimmy.

I was thinking the same thing about Kiaba's post. Kiaba, The other day, Runescape gave the option to turn the filter on or off, this wasn't about the Runevillage bunny censor itself.

yeh i started writing that about the chat channel then i went out to the shops came back and forgot it was about the chat channel and not the forum xD, but i think we should alow swearing just not to Grotesque or Vulgar

If people are offended by swearing they can keep the filter on, so why is the moderating staff worried about it? Easing up the rules would make their jobs so much easier.

It would be up to the mods what is and isn't allowed (in which I hope they keep with RV's views, not their own personal views).

Basically, use some common sense. If you have to think about whether you're going to get kicked or not, chances are you are going to get kicked and it would be in your best interest not to type that. Remember, you have to TYPE this stuff out. So it isn't like once it is typed you can't take it back.

Couldn't have put it any better. That is honestly what I wanted. I just wanted it to be allowed to use the swearing as you normally would, not in a violent manor. E.g. 'For **** Sake, just got killed because of lag', that would be fine 'Hey Jimmy, why don't you just **** off' would not. And I say it with Jimmy, because he's neutral...To everything...No one hates him. 8-[

I believe that you should still stop swearing in the lounge, just because jagex is getting desperate at appealing to a wider audience doesn't mean we should resort to being in the gutter, it doesn't take a whole lot of thinking to come up with a more appropiate word to use in place of a swearword.

We have a reputation to uphold on being a family friendly site.

I.......actually agree. Swearing here and there, fine. We all do it. But when people are given an inch, they take a mile.

We have prided ourselves on having one of, if not THE most mature RS related website out there. I think that is what makes us a big draw. I really don't want to step into RS Chat (or even RV Chat) and be met with a flurry of foul language and I'm older than a vast majority of the website. It's rather rude and off putting. Outside of RV/RS I swear like a dirty, filthy, drunken sailor (Janrok/Monk/Frank/Muffin all know that) but here, it's different. We're a family site, a place I'd want my children to belong to if I had any.

Just because Jagex is allowing you to do something, doesn't mean you HAVE to do it. It also means that just because Jagex allows swearing, it doesn't mean we are going to allow it free range either. We never have, and we never will.

What I propose is sort of like we do here, keep it within reason. Telling someone to F-off is NOT acceptable. It's rude and hateful. Goten: Even though swearing is allowed in Runescape, RV lounge is still going to be free of stupid amounts of, or offensive cursing. It's still "Runevillage"s chat.
Simon: Runevillage's rules reflect Runescape's rules, swearing should be more open.

Two issues I see here, taking a step back and looking at this again. One, a circle is being made here on whether Runescape's rules supersede Runevillage's, or the other way around, given they both (on paper) seem to be based off one another. More than likely, though, it will win out that "RV Lounge is Runevillage's clan chat, so RV gets to choose what happens."

The other piece of confusion I see is the severity of the filter the Clan Chat mods are supposed to go by. Do we moderate for ALL swear words filtered here? If so, I see a joking use of something like "You bastard." being turned into a semantics problem on being modded or not. I personally think Clan Chat mods are gonna wind up just sticking to what they would normally moderate, and as it should be. Mods are picked for knowing what's wrong, and knowing what to do about any wrongdoing. The change of a filter isn't gonna suddenly turn our jobs on its head, nor will it turn the experience had of watching chat into useless memories.

*Prepares for the filter evasion flak*
