In my opinion, it is going to be a hard concept to advertise, but if someone can pull it off, I see no harm.

Depending on how you define features, I believe it's our content that is more lacking than features. One step at a time though.. 8)

Oooooh! RuneVillage Fishing Trawler Party! :D

:shifty:

Maybe I should add "fansite" to the video's tags (it already has "runescape" on it).

I understand that some are getting impatient, but without giving anything away, I think you'll all have a better idea of how the project is going shortly.

As to the topic, I wholeheartedly agree, (this was a topic about two months ago). One of the highest ranking results on Google for 'RuneScape Fansite' is a YouTube video, and it certainly wouldn't hurt us to have one too. It could 'summarize' us, so to speak also.

But, I'd prefer to wait until RV2.0's release, it would be a shame to create a video of our current (lacking) features and then have to redo it with RV2.0's phenomenal features.

I'd also worry about who creates it, we want it to look very professional, no cheesy effects or anything in the like.

Hmm, @Donut; some of the points you make are valid, but some aren't..

We definitely need a video on Youtube to promote RuneVillage. But holding back because the site isn't perfect is no reason to produce a Video for YouTube. Thats like a company releasing a phone and not promoting it until the Updated and better version is released. I dont think it would be a shame to create a video about our lacking features - we just skip them 8-[
When a product is being promoted, it only promotes the good parts, not the "alright" parts or the "semi-acceptable" areas..

Why wait for perfection before advancement?

Yes, as Tweedy said, we really don't have anything to promote. People would see the commercial and think poorly of the fansite, and considering the time and energy it would take to produce a high-quality commercial, it would be a waste of effort. (Keep in mind we're not a phone company, we're a fansite with little money, certainly not enough to produce a professional television commercial.)

Being perfectly honest, a commercial isn't going to do the site any good at this point. But with RV2.0, that's a whole new story.

I disagree with you... not to be mean or anything :P

but why not create an advertisement now, and when RV 2.0 comes out, we can update our video and show what changes to make this site better ^_^

Just an example :O

We heard of many people who search google for "Runescape Fansites" and find RV. I think they might also search youtube for them. Even if not, it's something cool to have!

We could film some of our RVET events and once RV 2.0 is out, we could film that too and kind of present our features.
I mean the way youtube works might even help, because once that video gets high view counts and more favourited, it will get more attention, which means more audience and more RVers :D

EDIT: Dang I just noticed... wrong section
