I still stand by my earlier statement that two shields never existed. Chat mods had one shield before eventually gaining three shields. If someone can produce evidence to the contrary then great, but otherwise I think we'll end up going around in circles here.

I remember chat mods had white shields for a day or two. Whether they were 1 or 3 I can no longer remember. But I don't think they were ever 2.

Chat mods started out with only a single blue shield (which was lolsworthy because it looked like a lower rank than the sorceror of saradomin, a high post rank) and then they were moved up to two shields. Then those two shields became two white shields. As for chat admins (this was probably earlier, back when flumbullen and happylizard were the first two chat admins), the rank was simply three blue shields and a crown overlapping the center shield.
Eventually, people began to cry over the meaning behind the shields. Some forum mods thought that the white shields looked better, while some chat mods thought they deserved three shields. Eventually, it just became three blue shields for forum and chat mods, and four blue shields for chat admins. I don't recall ever seeing four white shields, though, but it may have happened too. But it's nice to see that chat mods are back to white shields, and three of them too
