ah ok, then I'll move the picture so it shows it more clearly... Though of course in the game itself it is quite obvious what is what because you can actually see the object's names

No. It's the crate.

The Support is a pole . (the pole in the background).

I've changed it, but I suppose that the image you post there isn't the crate, but the support that must be used?

Step 20 says to use the lantern with the chest. But there's no chest.

You have to use it with the crates in the cooks cabin.

edit: Step 45 says you have to talk to an Ethereal Man, it actually depends on your gender, if you're a female in game, it's Ethereal Lady.
