There is a POH and Construction sticky in that forum, you may like to use them for reference and to enhance your finall guide. :)

Also, using pictures direct from the KD is a breach of copyright I believe.

Bt the way, this is no longer a sticky.

Since New Updates deletes after 1 page, maybe we should keep it a sticky :O

The item images will be uploaded to the whatis2 database, none of the tables will be one big image (although that's not something you have to be bothered with).
For any locations on maps, take a screenshot from the world map of RS (available at the site) and add in text or symbols to show what you want to show.

-- The Basics --

Welcome to the world of construction! With construction you can build your very own house or make items to sell to other players. Building a good quality house with Construction is not only fun and easy, but also beneficial to a variety of other skills

- Starting out -> The Estate Agents

To get your house at first you need to buy a land to build it on. This you do by talking to an Estate Agent. They can be found in 3 different places - Falador, Varrock & Seers

1.gif 1a.gif 1b.gif 1c.gif

- How to get to your house

At first your house will be located in Rimmington. To get to Rimmington you can follow the path from Falador's south entrance to the south-west.

2.jpg

- How to get into your house

To get into your house you click on the portal in Rimmington (or wherever you might have moved your house) and choose the option 'Go to your house' - The other options are 'Go to your house (building mode)' which transfers you into your house into building mode instead of normal mode. The third option is 'Go to a friends house' which will then prompt you for your friend, type it in and if his house is there, he is home & accepting visitors you will be transferred to his house.

3a.gif 3b.gif

- Starting out -> Building your house

To start building your house you have to be in building mode. If you didn't choose entering the house into building mode go to your controls tab (same as where you set walk/run), click House Options and choose Building Mode 'ON'. To be able to build you have to have a hammer and a saw in your inventory.

4.gif 4a.gif 4b.gif

When first entering your house you should have two rooms, a garden containing a portal and a parlour. Decide what you are going to make, go to the correct hotspot for the furniture and build it.

5.jpg

To build at first you need nails. You only need nails to build items made out of normal planks. Higher level planks don't require nails as you build them a different way. Nails will break occasionally, depending on your Construction level and the metal type of the nail. The better metal the less chance of breaking.

You can remove a piece of furniture if you wish to build something else in the same space. To do this, right-click on it and select Remove. You will not get any of the materials back. Some pieces of furniture can be upgraded to better pieces of furniture without having to remove them first.

- Making more rooms

To build a new room go to one of the door hotspots for the room and choose 'Build Door hotspot' - You will then get a menu with the rooms available to create.

6.jpg

- Starting out -> The Materials

For constructing most items of furniture, your material resource will be planks. Planks come in a few varieties, increasing in quality: Normal Wood, Oak, Teak and Mahogany. To find out about planks, it is advised you visit the Sawmill Operator. Aside from planks, he also sells saws, cloth and nails.

When your Construction level gets higher, you may want to look into obtaining Limestone, Marble blocks, Gold Leaf, or even Magic building crystals. These are sold by the stonemason, found in Keldagrim. Other miscellaneous items you may construct will require soft clay, iron/steel bars etc, so it may be useful to have them on hand.

- Starting out -> The rooms

<<< Table >>>

Icon - Room - Level Required - Cost - Use
8a.gif - Garden - 1 - 1000 - The garden is largely decorative but it also contains the exit portal, you must have at least one exit portal in your house area.

8e.gif - Workshop - 15 - 10000 - This room allows you to train Construction without modifying your own house, by making furniture that can be sold to other players. It also provides space for you to train Crafting and Smithing.
8f.gif - Bedroom - 20 - 10000 - Some of the furniture in this room can be used to change your hair and clothes. You will also need to have two of these rooms in order to hire a servant.
8g.gif - Skill Hall - 25 - 15000 - These are primarily used to connect other rooms, but they also provide space to show off your skill achievements. This room can also contain staircases for a second floor or a cellar.

8q.gif - Dungeon - 70 - 7500 - Dungeon corridors, junctions and stairs can be built to create an underground maze full of monsters, traps and doors.
8r.gif - Treasure Room - 75 - 250000 - You can place a prize in this room for visitors to your dungeon to try to reach.

<<< /Table >>>

- Starting out -> House Controls

<<< Table >>>
Locking the portal - The first and easiest thing about control is this. When you are in your house, you can simply right click your entrance portal (this is where you come in and visitors will appear), and select 'Lock portal'. Locking the portal denies all access from anyone to your house. To unlock, simply right click again and select the option.
Private Chat/Friends List - This is the main control of access to your house aside from straightforward portal locking. The way access to your house works is in parallel to your friends list/private chat settings. If your private chat is set to 'On', then anyone can come into your house. If you private chat is set to 'Friends only' then only players on your friends list will be able to enter. Having private chat set to 'Off' is similar to locking your portal.

-- The Sawmill Operator
12.gif

To first build furniture, you will need planks and a saw. These can be obtained from the Sawmill operator who is found northeast of Varrock near the Lumberyard.

The Sawmill operator will sell useful items such as saws, cloth and nails. Most useful of all, he will turn logs into planks for a fixed price per log.

12a.jpg 12b.gif

-- The Stonemason
13.gif

To build higher level furniture, you may find you are in need of more materials such as limestone bricks, marble blocks, gold leaf or magic building stones.

<<< Table >>>
Material - Limestone Brick - Marble Block - Gold Leaf - Magic building stone
Picture - 7e.gif - 7f.gif - 7g.gif - 7h.gif

All of these can be found by trading with the stonemason, found in his house in Keldagrim on the southwest side.

13a.jpg 13b.gif

-- The Gardener
14.gif

Hanging around Falador Park, the gardener will sell bagged plants, flowers and trees.

You can use these trees in the same manner that you build furniture. Take a plant to a garden hotspot, and build it there if you have the correct plant. You will also need a watering can with water in it, to help the plant settle into the new ground.

14a.jpg 14b.gif

-- The Taximermist
15.gif

If you are lucky as you slay certain beasts of RuneScape, you may notice the head (or hand!) of a recently killed monster appears next to you on the floor.

On occasions like this, you should take this head and some coins to the Taxidermist found in Canifis. She can preserve the head, so you can mount it on your wall if you have high enough Construction.

When you have mounted it in your skill hall, you can talk to it for a little bit of fun, or just to show your friends your accomplishments.

-- The Herald
16.gif

Located upstairs in the White Knights' Castle, the Herald can sell you maps, portraits or amend your Family Crest.

The portraits and maps you can buy are based upon your quest achievements. For example, you cannot buy a map of Morytania if you have not completed certain quests in that area.

If you speak with the Herald, you will find out your family crest. If you do not want the one given, you can pay him to change it. The Family crest you have chosen will appear around your house. Such places it appears are on decorative shields, banners, helmets and decorations you make in your house.

16a.jpg

-- Servants --
17.jpg

The Servants' Guild is found in East Ardougne, just north of the central market. Here, you can speak with the Master servant who will outline what servants can do for you.

There are 5 servants, each will provide different services for you. If you want a better servant you may notice that you will require a higher level of Construction. Services servants can provide range from basic cooking right up to visiting the bank and bringing you items to help you build, or even going to the sawmill to convert logs into planks!

You will need to pay a cost to hire a servant, and when they request wages, you will need to pay them to continue their service to you. You can dismiss your servant at any time.

If you have visitors to your house you can have your servant visit them and welcome them in. The servant can also be used in the Dining room to make a meal for each person at the table. The food that is prepared is based upon the level of servant you have hired and the availiable furniture in your Kitchen.

-- Special Features --

Heraldry and Family crests
The Workshop contains the Heraldry hotspot. With the ability to paint your own family crest on steel or rune full helms, you can wear your crest into battle. If you update this to a shield easel, you can paint your crest on a kiteshield! If your Construction level is high enough, you can even make a large banner of your crest to carry around.

Cheaper Barrows Repairs
The repair bench, also found in the Workshop, is very useful. Basic benches can repair broken staffs and arrows, and if you change this to a whetstone, you can sharpen old rusty swords. If your Construction level allows it, you could even make an armour stand, where you can repair Barrows armour for a cheaper cost! The cost is dependant on your Smithing level. At Smithing level is 1, the cost will be nearly the same as normal. With 99 Smithing, your repair cost will be half the normal cost.

Flatpacks
To make flatpacks you will need to construct a Workshop and workbench. Here you can make money from your Construction level. Dependant on the level of your workbench, you can construct flat-packed items. For example, you can use the same materials to make a rocking chair to make a flatpacked version of it with your workbench. You still get the same experience for making the item. You can then sell this item to another player who is unable to make the item, but wants it for their own house. They simply use the flatpacked version with the hotspot.

Spell Tablets
To make spell tablets you need a Study containing a Lectern, Soft Clay and the runes needed for the spell casted normally (you can also use staffs). For more information for what each Lectern gives click here

--- Rooms ---

Whilst your Construction level is raising you can make more and more rooms in your house. This section will give you detailed information about every room available.

I will be updating it when I finish each room :O It should be finished next weekend I hope.

I hope you like it ^^
