I'm actually impressed with how long Henry was able to resist using the ability, saving it for the finishing blow like he did.
Oh, I didn't realize it was a one-use ability. I was wondering why he kept saving it, lol. In that case, me too. Nicely done Doc.

I wanted to use it earlier, as I expected to be dead earlier.

What DID the critical successes do, anyway? Or what would they have done in many cases?

Basically, critical hits would do two things:

1) Inform you that someone used a power, obviously

2) Prevent an ability from failing. So kills would ignore protection, roleblocking would be ineffective, investigations would ignore things like 'you appear innocent'. For example, if the mafia nightkill crit while attacking Lander, he would die despite his ability, since his ability was basically a passive self-protection every night that wasn't really an action (and thus did not roll a die, and couldn't be roleblocked). In many cases the crit is really meaningless though.

If I survived to the final days, I was going to place a vote without a picture. The Mafia would have hammered the innocent guy and commenced endgame-gloating like they always do.

I woulda been all

"Okay so here's the deal
my vote didn't actually count
so your hammer didn't work
but now we know who the mafia actually are

But yeah I never got that far. (It wouldn't have actually worked anyway since the Mafia had the whole half-the-votes-needed-to-lynch thing in play.)

Not sure if I remember that; what I do remember is practically setting Jack up with his and Muffin's roles.

Jack was a one-shot daykill. Muffin was Jesus, who returned the day after his death and could smite a player of his choice as he did so.

So of course Jack shot muffin, and then Muffin returned from the dead the next day.

Yeah. It was probably a good judgment call to kill Sighence despite Kikori's Poison Sting making Lander vulnerable that night, since him getting a guilty report on you was probably just what the town needed to win.

11. Jaron - Jaron
12. Kikori - Venomancer
13. bluecoat - bluecoat

Role pms:
Hidden:
You are B1-66er. You are self-aligned. As a sentient robot, you simply want what every living creature does; to survive.
Passive (“I do not want to die”): Once, if you were to die, you will survive and gain access to the active ability 'Self-Defense'.
Active: Night (“Self-Defense”): Once per night, you can kill a player of your choice.
Win Condition: You win if you are the last player standing.

You are Aragorn. You are the rightful heir to the thrones of Arnor and Gondor, and as such you are aligned with the forces of good, the Village.
Passive (“The Hero's Return”): The first time you die, you will return to life the following day phase.
Win Condition: You win when all mafia are eliminated.

You are Shawn Spencer. You are aligned with the Village. You possess a photographic memory and have opted to use it to become a private detective.
Active: Night (“Psych”): Once per night, you can target a player and investigate them, discovering their alignment.
Passive: Night (“Heightened observational skills”): You are aware of and remember anyone who comes to your house during the night.
Win Condition: You win when all mafia are eliminated.

You are Walter White. You are a member of the Mafia. You can't help but feel responsible for the mafia's success, but you suspect you are expendable to your godfather Dr. Henry. As such you are prepared to kill him if it means your own safety. Your fellow mafia member is Kikori.
Passive: Day (“Gus had to go”): If Dr. Henry is lynched while you are voting for him, you will take over as godfather of the mafia, and change into Heisenberg.
Win Condition: You win if the number of mafia is equal to or greater than the number of other players.

The role Heisenberg entails:
You are the leader of the Mafia, and as such are responsible for the nightkill (you must PM who the kill is targeted at, and which mafia member will act out the kill).
Passive “I hide in plain sight, just like you.”: You are immune to all forms of investigation, and can only die from being lynched.
Win Condition: You win if the number of mafia is equal to or greater than the number of other players.

You are Anderson Cooper. You are aligned with the Village.
Active: Day (“360”): Any time before the day phase ends, you can PM me a 140-character or less message which will be broadcasted publicly in the day end post as Anderson Cooper's 360.
Win Condition: You win when all mafia are eliminated.

You are Sorin Markov. You are the leader of the Mafia, and as such are responsible for the nightkill (you must PM who the kill is targeted at, and which mafia member will act out the kill). The mafia consists of Muscular Ape and Kikori.
Active (“Minus Three Loyalty”): Night: Once, you may target a player to bite. During the next day phase, that player will require half of the usual votes to be lynched.
Win Condition: You win if the number of mafia is equal to or greater than the number of other players.

You are the Messenger. You are aligned with the Village.
Active: Night (“Anonymous Tip”): Once per night, you can deliver (by PMing me your target and message) a 140-character or less message anonymously. This message will be delivered at the end of the night phase.
Win Condition: You win when all mafia are eliminated.

You are E-102 “γ”. You have recently reconsidered your programming and joined the forces of good, the Village. You are very well equipped in combat and possess a number of abilities. You can use as many abilities as you would like per night, but each ability can only be used once.
Active: Night (“Laser Blaster”) Once, during the night, you can kill a player of your choice.
Active: Night (“Jet Booster”) Once, during the night, you can follow a player and see who they visit.
Active: Night (“Homing Missiles”) Once, during the night, you can bombard a player and prevent them from completing their action that night, roleblocking them.
Win Condition: You win when all mafia are eliminated.

You are Superman. An agent of justice, you defend the Village.
Passive (“The Man Of Steel”) In the Mafia world, there is little that can truly threaten you. You cannot be killed; however, being lynched means you have lost the favor of the people of Earth, and you will leave the game (effectively dying.)
Win Condition: You win when all mafia are eliminated.

You are Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts. You are aligned with the Village.
Active: Night (“Headmaster”) Once per night, you can visit a player and protect them from death.
Passive (“Pensieve”) When you die, all night actions involving you will be revealed publicly. (Who you visited every night, and who visited you every night. The exact actions being undertaken in these visits will not be revealed.)
Win Condition: You win when all mafia are eliminated.

You are Jaron. You are aligned with the Village.
Passive: Day (“It's funny because it's from the internet!”) During the day phase, you must make a pop culture or internet reference in every post. If you do not, your vote for the day will be nullified.
Win Condition: You win when all mafia are eliminated.

You are Hydralisk Venomancer. You are aligned with the Mafia. Your godfather is Dr Henry. Your fellow mafia member is Muscular Ape.
Passive (“Poison Sting”): The person who ended the day with your vote cannot be saved by protection this night phase.
Passive (“Poison Nova”): Just before you die, you will release your Poison Nova, a crippling but non-fatal venom wave. If you are lynched, it will affect everyone who voted for you. If you are killed at night or otherwise, your killer will be affected. At the end of the phase following your death, any player affected by Poison Nova who was also affected by Poison Sting anytime during the game will die.
Win Condition: You win if the number of mafia is equal to or greater than the number of other players.

You are the Dungeon Master, bluecoat. You are ultimately aligned with the Village.... but you're going to make them work for it.
Active: Day (“Roll for initiative”) Once, during the day phase, you can opt to use this ability. If you do, then when a majority is reached, everyone's votes will be reset to whoever they first voted for during that phase. If a new majority is reached via these votes, then a lynch will occur normally. If not, the day will end with no lynch.
Passive (“/r 1d20”) As long as you are alive, every power role (excluding yourself) will (unknowingly) roll a d20 whenever using their abilities. If they roll a 1, their action will fail. If they roll a 20, their action will be guaranteed to succeed. In either case, you will be informed that a critical failure/hit has occurred, and who is responsible.
Win Condition: You win when all mafia are eliminated.

Don't do this.

No, really. Don't.

I've done stupid mafia stuff in the past - worse than you've done, to be sure. Sure, you were basically entirely wrong, I've already said as much. I've been there too. What's worse, I was right, got emotional about it, and made a hilariously bad ass of myself. You're not in danger of that. Was this your best performance? No. But if there's anything my years of fencing experience have taught me, there are two things: how to think fast and not be too off-base, and how scarily close the average performance/time graph matches that of CO2 levels a few decades ago.

I'm sure a lot of us know what I mean here, but for the uninitiated:

Image

See those pitfalls? You're in one here, no denying that. See the overall shape of the slope? That's you.

Don't quit on us. <3

I've never apologized to the town but god damn, was I ever wrong. I was nigh invincible (especially after that kill attempt) and I played with my balls on my sleeve, to poor ends. I also have been working my dick off and I wasn't able to get online nearly as often as I would like. This led to 3-4 days passing where I either didn't see at all, or didn't see the most relevant information.

The kikori fake ragequit was probably 20% total Fuzzy Bunny and 80% brilliant. I think he did this because he KNEW I would bite. After I realized what happened, I knew we were boned. But I still wasn't sure who was mafia, and if I were, I was not online to voice these concerns. There was a very small margin for error.

Great game, strong play from Kikori and Muscular Ape.

So if there are any more mafia games to be played, I don't think there's a place for me in them. It's been real anyways.
