I'm leaving sign-ups open while characters get made. I have yet to receive any, and only one team has formed.

Working out who's my partner / who's the sixth person before making character(s).

Winning team members get a choice of either a DnD 4th Edition rule book (their choice) or a gift card to ThinkGeek.com. In the event that one of the winners is international, we'll work something out.

Runners Up: Describe a miniature that you want. I'll mail you something that resembles it (unless you're international. Then we work something out.)

Rules:
-Teams of two, and they're set in stone. Pick your ally wisely.
-Level 8 characters only.
-Characters start with 5 level 5 magic items. They can be wonderous items, but no mounts. All items are subject to approval.
-Teams have 800 gold prior to each match upon seeing the battlefield. Items bought with this do not transfer between matches, nor does the gold.
-NO HOUSERULING. If iplay4e says something doesn't work, I'll probably say no to it.
-All characters must be saved to iplay4e and the link pmed to me. Everything is subject to my approval.
-There will be no actual roleplaying sessions until the final round; combat begins as soon as the match starts, without story. To handle skills and other roleplaying in matches I will use very strict DCs and a percentile die for everything else.
-Arena sizes will be randomly chosen the day before each match, as well a terrain type and various hazards. I reserve the right to place traps and triggered events arbitrarily. This means some matches may be safer than others.
-The final match will consist of a short adventure ending in a showdown. I will make this adventure before the final match, and promise nothing. Teams do not have to kill eachother, but a winning team must be determined upon at the end of the adventure.
-Number of matches needed to advance will be announced later, as well as number of characters players can have. For now, assume one.

If you aren't sure if you want to work with someone or not, I can do random dungeons for various potential teams on request. My only recommendation for character creation should go without saying: Double up on roles with your character, and consider having some sort of healing. I do not require anything else for the teams.

You don't have to announce what your character is on the thread. You also don't have to keep information on other people's characters and strategies secret if you know it.

Oh, and there are prizes to be had. Real ones that will require mailing.

Everyone uses skype, by the way. And I'm usually the host of servers when people wanna play, so any actual playing will probably have to be when I leave the server up.

  • Levels 1, 6, or 8... or higher. The first for basic character design and easy play, '6' and '8' because most characters' builds will be well defined by this time.
  • Roleplay it out. Set up traps in environments, force an offensive and defensive, etc.
  • Arena style tournament. Combat-oriented, so it takes some cunning out of it, but highlights PvP.
  • Teamwork or not. Force thought on role balance between members, or trust one person to take care of themselves.
  • Teams: Randomly decided, or friends play with friends, if at all?
  • Everyone all together or not, or tournament-style approaches. Allow everyone to "accidentally" gang up on one, or force the individual pairs to compete.

Me, I like keeping it at level 10 at the highest, with two-man teams, in a tournament-style roleplayed scenario. However, if "roleplaying it out" means there has to be a DM / watcher over the individual plans, that possibly rules out myself or Bluecoat from participating... which I wouldn't want. D:

Do you want
-Teams
-Massive free-for-all
-Story
-Varied battlegrounds
-Skills allowed
-Other things I haven't though about

I'll put up a poll of the most popular ideas in 1 week, and list any rules that are generally agreed upon.
