Just [RP] is fine. You can put whatever note you want else to denote a theme.

Finished novels should remain tagged [N]. If they're a constant reader, chances are they'll know when the last chapter is coming around. If they're new to it, after reading through the topic and all updates, they'll eventually know when the last chapter is coming around.

yep :)

The moose was getting the red paint bucket for me and slipped on the white while carrying down the red. Both cans and the moose fell down and landed on the frog who was holding the ladder steady and they all splattered on the floor. The result was the color you see. If you look closely, you can see a bit of moose fur in the "Lit. Soc." text and some green frog skin that peeled off in the word "use". O.o;
Really? I thought it was because it's the most unreadable color besides light orange, and having important rules stick out in purple or some other bold color is the last thing we wanted.

I agree. The title is almost invisible to me.

Actually, the most unreadable color is light yellow on a white background.

Will this forum be seeing any news threads like things along the lines of Runevillage Library updates?

And are finished novels to be labeled as short stories, or as something like [FN]?

The system is easy to follow. Just put one of the tags that is most appropriate for your topic at the beginning of it to let people know what kind of topic it is. Here are is a cheat sheet to what tags mean what.

Quote:

[RP] = Role Play
[N] = Novel (Incomplete, yet constantly updated stories of length should be labeled such.)
[SS] = Short Story (The entire thing is already written and no furthur chapter updates will be made.)
[P] Poetry or Prose
[E] Essay
[D] Discussion

Q and A
Why should I bother doing this?
Because it's nice and considerate to others, and will in fact promote your topic and make it stick out a bit more. And think of it this way, if everybody two seconds to add a little tag to their topic, it will save everybody else time and help them find things faster. If you want to help everybody and yourself, add the tag.

What about existing topics?
If you are the thread creator, go ahead and add the tag to your title. (Remember, put it at the beginning of the thread title!) If you're a mod and you see that someone hasn't gotten around to changing their topic title, change it for them.

Someone didn't put a tag on their title. Can we do anything about it?
Keep on topic and participate however nessessary, whether it's putting in your character information for an RP, or your critique for a short story. At the end, make a comment about there being no tag and link them to this sticky, just incase they didn't get a chance to read it. If the thread creator still doesn't change, a mod will take care of it.

Why not just have an RP forum and the Literary Society like it was before?
When remodelling the forums, we wanted to trim down on non-RS forums and remind ourselves that even though we've grown a bit beyond an RS fansite, we're still just that, and RS fansite. Neither of the forums was particularly more active or equally active as others (such as Gen Discussion or Picture Palace) and so merging the two wouldn't create an activity spike on the single new forum either.

Additionally, we were going to install a subforums mod, but it didn't end up happening. We may still add a subforums mod (although there is no news on whether we will or not) and so for the time being, merging the two was the best solution possible. This tag system will only help clear things up too.

I think there should be another tag, or one should be changed for clarification.
Yes, I know that isn't really a question, but there is something you can do about it. This topic will remain unlocked for discussion on the tag system, and maybe even a bit on how this situation could be better solved.

What if my topic doesn't fall under any of these?
Just don't label it. Anything other than the above tags are probably rarely posted anyway. If it becomes a popular thing to post, then perhaps we'll add a new tag. Just be clear about what your topic is and everything will be fine.

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Over 9000 logs and a few bits of bark. We writers owe our paper to these guys! ;)

Why is this topic title pink?
The moose was getting the red paint bucket for me and slipped on the white while carrying down the red. Both cans and the moose fell down and landed on the frog who was holding the ladder steady and they all splattered on the floor. The result was the color you see. Added a [D] code for literary discussions. ~Tweedy
