The Dwarf’s Journey |

The young goblin stumbled into the large chamber. Torches lining the walls lit every part of the chamber, save for the throne sitting at the end of the hall shrouded in darkness. She guessed that the rumor was true. No one had seen what their new leader looked like. He took over silently, and because of all his achievements nobody had rebelled against him. Everyone was shocked when he took control of the trolls. She slowly approached the dark throne and bowed. "Arise and speak, Jeza," the deep voice boomed out of the black space. This confused Jeza as all goblins spoke in a high pitched voice. She ignored this and repeated the words of her master. Her voice was slightly strained as she had traveled several miles at high speed to get there. She was dismissed and began the tiresome journey back. Meanwhile, back in the main chamber, a goblin stepped out of the shadows to the side of the throne. "My lord," he said, "Are you certain that the troll will betray her kind, and the dwarf?" The reply came slowly. "Yes. She will do anything I want her to." The deep voice said. The goblin leader clapped his hands and a cage came into view. Inside the cage was a baby troll. "I have her child." "Anything else you require, m'lord?" The goblin asked... ***** Jeza reached her master's hut within an hour of departing from the throne room. As she stepped through the door her master immediately asked her whether she had fulfilled her task. She nodded. "Good," The old mage said. "Did he notice you plant the listening device?" "I do not think so, master." She replied, before bowing and leaving her master alone in the room. He poured a vial of liquid into a dish and muttered a few words before a voice whispered out of the dish. He cursed, the device must have been muffled. Even so, he listened intently until he heard the voice of the goblin's mysterious leader. "Soon, the dwarf will realize his true powers and have to make the decision. He WILL join us!” |
