The Dangers of Online Profiles

Some people go onto websites like MySpace, Friendster, MSN Space, etc. All of these sites are extremely unsafe. In this article I will explain to you why it is unsafe. In the following article I will use Images and things Sex/Child predators look at to get close encounters to children/teens.

For this Article I have used a fake Name, picture, Location, school, friends, job, etc. Everything is basically made up. It was made just to show everyone how Online Profiles are dangerous.

(http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction =user.viewprofile& friendID=46261020)

Meet Alex, he is 17 years old and he lives in Encino, California (obviously you can see that). And luckily there is a female/male who thinks that he is so cute and wants to know you what… Eh. The stalker will go through Alex’s MySpace and read all of his interests, movies, idols, music, hero’s, etc.

Now we have a whole life background of Alex. Other then knowing his name, we know:

Now from what we can see there are many ways that these predators can meet up with you and can stalk you. Since they know Alex’s school and work: they may go to see him. Let me add we know how he looks like because there is a picture of him on there.

You can pm him on aim and then start talking to Alex.

How To keep your Self Safe.

Once you have made your Profile or if you already made one you May want to take group pictures and put them up instead of making them a picture of your lovely face.

It is okay to post your interests but you don’t want to give everything out. It is important that you do not give out your Screen name’s out to anyone you do not know.

Do not give out your daily schedules, or places you go to during any time.

Listing your name, age, or location is a big deal. Perhaps instead of publishing your name, location, or age you may want to put in a nickname, a fake location, and a close age to what you are. Pictures need to be group pictures as I already listed above.

In most of your Online profiles there will be a safe mode option. In this case, in myspace you are able to approve comments and lock profiles to see for only friends to enter.

Giving your school out is another big deal, it blows your cover on location and it gives people the way to access your life.

All the information above is not to scare anyone it’s just to warn everyone about the dangers of these profiles. They are just pure evil.

Hopefully I helped you in a way.
